A Message from the Head of Sixth Form
Here at Moor Park we have one firm belief: that education transforms lives. Our school mission is to ensure that all our young people are able to access higher education and participate fully in our democratic society. Our sixth form is where this mission is actualised.
Our sixth form is unique in the central Preston area as we offer the option for both A Level and BTEC courses in a small, safe environment with a maximum class size of 10 students. This means that our expert staff are able to get to know students well, provide them with 1-1 support and ensure they are both challenged and supported academically, so all students make excellent progress.
We have recently redesigned our curriculum and are now able to offer two distinct pathways: a vocational route and an A Level route. Both pathways are designed to maximise student outcomes and ensure that our students are best placed for the next stage of their education, employment or training. Our new ‘access’ pathway also offers a route to university for students who might require some additional support to access BTEC or A Level study.
I am especially proud of our enrichment and extra-curricular offer. Our sixth formers are the leaders of our school and our best ambassadors. Already this year, we have organised a ‘bake off’ as well as a charity week, raising money for Water Aid and there are many more activities planned. As we are a small sixth form, we are able to tailor our weekly enrichment offer each year, ensuring that students are provided with the information, advice and guidance needed for their next steps.
This is an exciting time for our sixth form, and I am proud to be a part of the journey we are on. If you would like to find out more, or would like to come and visit us, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
