September 2020 Transition Update

In light of recent events surrounding Coronavirus, we are continuing to follow all the appropriate guidelines from Public Health England and the guidance issued by the Department of Education. We have therefore decided to postpone the transition events organised for year 6 students, details of which you received last term.

We understand that this is a difficult, unsettling time for your child and as a school we are still committed to offering students, and their families, a comprehensive transition process. An area of the school website has been dedicated to transition and contains all key information regarding starting school in September along with all future updates to the transition process. We ask that you all check this section of the website and social media regularly.

At the present time we have a revised calendar of transition events planned.  As the situation and guidelines change, we are committed to reviewing the programme and hopefully adding additional events that you and your child can attend throughout the summer term.

Admission packs and ID documents required

These will now need to be completed at home/online and returned to Moor Park High School and Sixth Form. The deadline for you to complete the admission pack is Wednesday 13 May 2020.

All the forms and guidance can be found here. Please read the guidance document to ensure you fill in the admission form correctly and send back the forms and relevant identification documents with all the required information.

Contact with primary school

Our transition team are currently in the process of contacting all year 6 teachers to learn more about each individual student. Our SENCO is also contacting all primary schools regarding any additional support students may require. Virtual meetings are being held when appropriate.

Meeting key staff

From Monday 4 May, on the transition area of the school website, there will be regular videos from key members of staff who will be working with year 7 students from September. They will introduce themselves and their role so you can find out a little more about life at Moor Park. You can see these videos HERE

Transition work

Starting on Monday 1 June, you will be able to access short lessons with Moor Park teaching staff. These will be small taster sessions that everyone can view so you can experience what life at Moor Park is like and meet some of our teaching staff. You can see these videos HERE

New intake information event for parents

This presentation would usually have been presented to you all in person at our new intake information events, but, for now, we can only present to you virtually. Please CLICK HERE

The presentation gives you the opportunity to learn more about the school’s routine and expectations. You can submit any questions to be answered by emailing and follow up virtual meetings can be arranged if more child specific discussions are required.

Year 6 students are at the centre of our thoughts, are part of our school community and are being considered in all decisions regarding Moor Park High School and Sixth Form. If you need any additional support or information you can email or ring 01772 795428. We will respond as quickly as we can.

Thank you for your patience and understanding,

With best wishes

Mrs Roberts

Deputy Headteacher
