In December, the British Youth Council invited seventeen young people from across the country to the House of Commons to receive certificates for the successful completion of their Local Councillor Shadowing Awards. Included in this very select company were Moor Park pupils Saalihah Adam (Year 12) and Rehana Patel (Year 9) – the only recipients from the north-west of England.
The pupils received their awards for completing a shadowing programme with Preston Councillor Dave Phillips. Accompanying the girls to the reception in Westminster were their fathers and Mrs Hopkin, Moor Park’s Family and Community Support Officer.
After receiving their certificates, the girls were treated to a tour of the Palace of Westminster and attended a parliamentary debate in the House of Commons.
The girls certainly enjoyed their special day. Saalihah said: “This is one day I will never forget. It will stay with me for the rest of my life”.
Everyone at Moor Park congratulates the girls on their fantastic achievement.
