Free School Meals During School Closure

Update – Monday 1 June 2020

The last batch of free school meal vouchers (£60 for 4 weeks) WILL now cover the half term week (25- 29 May).  The Department for Education made a U-turn on its decision not to fund the free school meals voucher scheme over half-term.  Therefore the 4-week vouchers will cover the following period

  • 18 – 22 May (£15)
  • 25 – 29 May (half term –£15)
  • 1 – 5 June (£15)
  • 8 – 12 June (£15)

Any problems, please use our dedicated email for communication with us about free school meals.

Update – Friday 15 May

New codes have been issued to those parents/carers whose children are entitled to a free school meal.  Because issues with Edenred continue we decided to request vouchers for a further 4-week block to minimise the anxiety the process causes for both school and parents/carers.

As of today’s date, the government have stated that it will not be providing free school meal provision for the half-term holiday week (25 – 29 May 2020).  However, this may change in the coming weeks and if it does, we will inform you.

As it currently stands, the 4-week voucher codes for £60 that will be issued shortly via email will cover the following weeks.

  • 18 – 22 May (£15)
  • 25 – 29 May (half-term – NOT COVERED)
  • 1 – 5 June (£15)
  • 8 – 12 June (£15)
  • 15 – 19 June (£15)

Any problems, please use our dedicated email for communication with us about free school meals.

Update – Tuesday 28 April

We have received some additional information from a parent who has been in touch with Edenred via their email This is in regards to delays in receiving e-vouchers after claiming them.
Vouchers can take up to 48 hours to be delivered so please bear this in mind before when claiming them before you go shopping.

Update – Monday 27 April

We have created a guide here, which shows you step by step, how to claim your vouchers.

We are aware that some parents are having trouble as their codes are not working. If this is the case you can email us on and we can check if the voucher has been redeemed. After this if the voucher has been redeemed, you will need to contact Edenred directly through the following email: as they can offer help directly with regards to the system, as we have no control once they have been ordered and distributed.

We have also received the following graph from Edenred which shows the peak times to avoid when claiming your vouchers.

Update – Thursday 23 April 2020

We have received numerous telephone calls regarding vouchers from the new government-backed voucher system. We have decided to roll out a new method of contact if you have any queries or issues.

From today, a new email address has been set up for you to contact school if you have not received your vouchers. This will allow us to log your issue and communicate directly with you going forward and allow us to communicate any information we have available or forward the voucher where possible.

The email is

Please use this for all future contact regarding free school meals.

Update – Tuesday 21 April 2020

Further to the information yesterday the latest update is:

The bad news: We checked Edenred site yesterday and again today, which I think most schools across the country will be doing.  It looks like they have now deployed some measures to stop people constantly accessing the website.  Whilst this is very frustrating for both parents and school, we ask for your patience in the matter.  As a school we have done as much as we can at this point and are just awaiting the release of the vouchers by Edenred.

The good news:  When you are able to access the voucher at some point this week, it will be for a 4 -week period as detailed below:

1. 20 April – 24 April

2. 27 April – 1 May

3. 4 May – 8 May

4. 11 May – 15 May

Update – Monday 20 April 2020

I hope that those parents whose children are eligible for free school meals were able to successfully download and use their electronic voucher that was sent last week via Wonde (for 13 – 17 April).

During the course of last week, we were able to gain access to the government school meal voucher scheme (Edenred) and decided to request electronic vouchers (£15/week for each eligible child) for the next 4 weeks, covering the following dates:

  1. 20 April – 24 April
  2. 27 April – 1 May
  3. 4 May – 8 May
  4. 11 May – 15 May

The request was approved by the DfE so hopefully at some point today or tomorrow you should receive an email with details of how to download the vouchers.  Please see the DfE FSM frequently asked questions below to help you with the process.

We have tried to logon to Edenred this morning to check the progress of the vouchers but have been unable to gain access.  We assume this is due to the amount of schools trying to access the scheme during office hours.  We will continue to check and will report back as soon as we can.  Please continue to check your email inbox and junk folder.

For those parents who do not have an email registered with school, we will need to print and post the vouchers when they become available.  This will of course delay the process of you receiving the vouchers.
