In April pupils and staff at Moor Park participated in an exciting and sunny residential visit to Northern France, staying at the beautiful 18th century Chateau de Warsy in Picardy. Activities included a visit to the Chateau Pierrefonds, where the ‘Merlin’ TV series is filmed, a chocolate factory making Easter confectionary and a bakery where pupils were invited to make croissants and bread (delicious!). Evenings were spent at the chateau grounds playing energetic team games.
As 2014 commemorates the centenary of the start of the First World War, pupils from Moor Park spent a day on the Somme battlefield and placed two wreaths to remember the young men of our school who gave their lives in battle at that time. One was placed on a Muslim grave (facing Mecca) and the other at the huge Thiepval Memorial. Thank you to Year 10 pupils Miles Davis and Rebecca Martin who recited WW1 poetry at the graves. A bientôt, la France!
